The annual Bay Area Carnival came and passed Memorial Day weekend without any showing of a Lucian presence. A handful of Caribbean groups, mainly Trinidadians and Vincentians paraded down Mission St. in the City in modest but colorful costumes. Gone are the huge costumes of years past. There was no live Caribbean music, save a group of drummers led by Val Serrant and pan students of Jim Munzenrider's Nueva School. Hope we can wave the Pitons at next year's Carnival.
