St. Lucia to introduce law for deportees

The St Lucian government says it will shortly be introducing legislation to closely monitor the movement of criminal deportees. The national security minister Guy Mayers, who is also the chairman of the Barbados-based Regional Security System, says efforts are also being made to have the legislation adopted across member countries.
Mayers says St. Lucia and other Caribbean countries need to put in place procedures that will prevent persons convicted overseas from getting involved in similar activities when they’re deported to the region. He says deportees will be placed on a special watch list, while convicted sex offenders and child molesters will be required to register with the police as well as to notify the public of their presence. - Go-Jamaica.com
